All natural and biodegradable
Our shrouds are made from natural fibres and sewn locally or in New Zealand.
The ritual of shrouding your loved one can be a deeply loving and healing experience. It is one of the oldest and most intimate ways for families and loved ones to quietly and gently prepare for burial or cremation.
Shrouds date back thousands of years across nearly every civilisation. In ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece, bodies were wrapped in linen cloth. This process was sacred. Jesus was wrapped in linen after his death.
For most of history, death happened at home. Families would wash and shroud their loved one and keep vigil until burial. With the rise of the funeral industry there was a shift towards coffins and after death care was taken out of the hands of families.
As we become more aware of the environmental impacts of our choices and the deep healing that occurs with family led funerals, people are rediscovering that a simple cloth can carry profound emotional and spiritual meaning.
We hope to be able to help facilitate a beautiful, heartfelt experience for your family.
